Helpful Application Guidelines
  • Be sure to complete all applicable sections of the application
  • Include as much detail as possible
  • Be sure that your organization qualifies
  • Applications received that only state "We want to recycle CFLs" or "We would like to add these to our plastic and bottle recycling containers" without any background information of any eco-sustainable or green projects, events or environmental awareness components will not be accepted. Remember the more information and specifics given will allow us to select the most appropriate organizations that match the closest to the Green Action Project's mission.

How much does the program cost? How long does it run for?
ComPak Recycling Centers are provided free of charge along with all recycling and shipping fees to approved applicants. The Green Action Project was designed as a community outreach program for the awareness of the proper recycling of CFLs. As part of their Corporate Citizen mission, NLR incurs all fees for this program.

The program runs until the inner recycling containers are filled and returned for recycling. Organizations then have the option of purchasing replacement containers for $59.99 (includes shipping and recycling charges) or they may request a pre-paid shipping label for the return of the center.

How do I apply?
Simply download an application or fill one out online.

Can the centers be purchased?
Yes. The price is $149.99 for a full center with (2) recycling containers and all shipping and recycling fees included. They can be purchased directly online through NLR here.

What other types of recycling do you offer?
Currently the Green Action Project is limited to CFL recycling, however we will be introducing battery and small electronics centers.

Can I charge people to recycle their CFLs?
No. Participants in the project can only offer free recycling. Any approved organization that does charge a fee will be billed for the full amount of the center.

What does my organization receive?
If your organization is approved you will receive: (1) CFL Recycling center, (2) recycling containers with innerpak liners, pre-paid shipping labels, and full instructions.

The recycling centers are 3' H x 1.5' W. This center houses 1 oe 2 CFL recycling containers.

How many CFLs can be recycled?
Each center can recycle up to 180 standard CFLs (90 in each recycling container).

How many centers can I receive?
Each applicant can specify any number of containers. Green Action project will make every effort to provide the number requested, however quantities are limited.

What do we do when we are done with the center? What about replacement containers?
Once your project or event is finished and all recycling containers have been sent back, organizations can opt to purchase replacement recycling containers for $59.95 ( each container holds (90) CFLs).

If no other containers are needed please contact us and we will send a pre-paid label for the return of the center.

What about breakage in the centers?
The recycling center was designed so that a user simply lifts the lid and places the used CFL inside of another container that is only a few inches from the top. This helps to ensure that the CFLs are not dropped in. This container also has a innerpak liner as well as a vapor-lock lid.

There is also a optional individual packaging bags for each used CFL available upon request. These bags fit virtually any size CFL and are sealable. Users place the CFL inside close it as they would a zip lock bag and then place it in the container. These bags can be placed in the side literature holder for easy access.

Do Municipalities, Public Waste Agencies (including household haz waste drop-off days), School Districts, Property Management, Low-Income Housing Organizations, Condo boards or Public Utilities qualify?

These organizations normally do not qualify for the program. NLR has set-up a special program whereby these organizations can purchase the recycling centers at a discounted price. For more information please contact us.

If you are among one of the above organizations and feel you have a special event or community outreach program that is uniquely qualified, please feel free to apply. You may be contacted for more information after your application has been received.
